Latest Updates from Our Project:
Announcing The Backer Exclusive Physical Edition
over 1 year ago
– Thu, Jul 18, 2024 at 06:14:26 AM
Everyone's asked. We're game. Here we go.
We're doing a Backer Exclusive Physical Edition! And we're super excited. It's been a dream of ours, and every physical backed means that we can do more for the games development.
Rendering of the Backer Exclusive Physical Edition
How do I get the Backer Exclusive Physical Edition?
Add $100 AUD to your pledge or pledge the new $140 AUD Physical tier.
This graphic shows how much to add to your pledge to get a Backer Exclusive Physical Edition of Infinity Knights: Xross. They are limited to one per person.
USD is an approximate as at 18/07/2024
What's in the Backer Exclusive Physical Edition?
The following is a proposed list of the things that will be included in the Backer Exclusive Physical Edition.
A retro-themed box containing the following contents:
A physical copy of the game for the PC/console of choice, signed, and numbered by the three of us!
An instruction manual, also signed and numbered, including information about the characters, commentary from the brothers, and 'cheat codes'.
Art Cards of characters.
Reversable cover for the physical edition of the game.
A CD featuring the OST.
Stickers featuring a variety of sprites from Infinity Knights: Xross.
We also want to include a trinket related to the game (a collectable item). Please send us any suggestions on our feedback channel in Discord.
Extra Information
The Graphic of the Backer Exclusive Physical Edition
We're asking for a bit of trust here. We're committed to making sure we create something quality, that backers actually want, for your console of choice.
The above graphic is a rendered prototype. The art is not final. It is our proposed vision, but we're open to feedback and working with the community to build something for them that they truly appreciate and enjoy. Again, we have backers at the heart of this.
Shipping
We are not charging for shipping right now. Why? Because we don't know the physical weight/size of this item. We could approximate it, but it's not something we're willing to charge for. If you want a better idea, you can check out Australia Posts website (they will be the maximum, since shipping companies that do bulk transports are cheaper than shipping lots of individual items).
The most obvious reason is that we pay Kickstarter fees and tax incurred (almost 40% of funds raised). If we charge at the time of shipping, we'll have a better estimation of shipping rates, and it will be less expensive than what it would be if we charged now.
We've also been approached by numerous shipping companies that are offering to help us. We haven't accepted any, since we don't know the specifics of the limited-edition version and accepting them before doing thorough research may also impact us.
We're trying to do what's best for everyone.
Australia can ship to over 200 countries in the world. If for some reason we can't ship to your country, we'll give you a refund - no problems.
Delay and Delivery Estimate
We want everyone to know straight up that we're doing this because we want to, and because we know that many backers want a physical edition. That comes with some information that we want people to know up front.
Physicals take time to produce. Yes, we have time to create them up until the game is released. But there are a few other things to consider:
Through thorough beta and alpha testing, the game will be shaped into a good, stable version. It's important to us that when we hand people physicals, there is a stable build on the discs/cards. This takes time after the digital versions are already good to go, since console manufacturers test, and then create the physicals that we need to ship.
If we send off the stable builds to be manufactured, this'll mean the digital version will be waiting, ready to be published. That wait could be a long time... we don't want to do that.
It is no secret that many Kickstarter projects promise physicals, then fail to deliver on time. Because of this, we're just straight up telling backers that if you back the physical version, you won't have the physical version until, say, late 2026.
You will still have a digital copy of the game to play in the meantime/on release.
Publishers and Manufacturers
We have had people reach out to assist us in the production of physicals. We're unsure if we're going to go with anyone to produce these, it's still something we're doing research for.
We're confident we can produce all the parts ourselves with the help of local companies in Perth. This is part of our awareness and commitment to the environment. This also will mean we'll be able to personally oversee the quality and production of the items and we can assemble it all ourselves. Quality plus!
Expectation
We welcome questions anytime. At the end of the day, we are three brothers who are immensely passionate about games and the experience they provide. Feel free to talk to us in the discord, more than happy to chat.
We will be working our hardest to provide something that backers feel is worthwhile.
Live Interview, Velia Backstory and Artwork, 1000 Backers (Area Information Reveal)
– Tue, Jul 16, 2024 at 05:58:51 AM
Greetings! We've been busy getting prepared for the final week of our Kickstarter. That being said, we still have plenty of cool things to update everyone on!
SuperDerek and Weebsauce (Bakusan) run great videos and streams. They even do a podcast called HitPoint! They very kindly interviewed us about the game for a whole hour! Do check it out if you want to know more about Infinity Knights: Xross.
We have quite a few characters we introduced in the Kickstarter. We've gone into detail about a few of them, but there are some that we haven't talked about in more depth. Let us know who you want us to reveal next!
~ Some characters from Infinity Knight: Xross ~
Let's talk about Velia, one of the six characters that appears on the banner for the game. She features in the trailer in what appears to be a confrontation with Xross, Fate, and The Queen, and also appears on the alternate version of the cover art for the game.
Velia, The Dark Valkyrie
Distant and emotionless, Velia is an obstacle of unknown origin that Xross and the Infinity Knights must overcome. She wanders The Void and is a Herald of the Darkness. She has long flowing hair, and deep, green, vacant eyes.
Clad in dark armour and brandishing a dual-headed great scythe, she is incredibly intimidating. Check out more concept art for Velia, that'll make its way into the Art Book.
Miairuha strikes again with his brilliant conceptual artwork of Velia
We reached 1000 Backers, so here is an area reveal
The fact that 1000 people out there want to play Infinity Knights: Xross is overwhelmingly cool. It's one thing to think people will, but it's something else entirely to see it. So, thank you immensely. To celebrate, we've decided to include some information and concept art about one of our areas.
Concept Art: Underneath the Plateau lies an intricate system of caves.
We have a myriad of special areas in the game, but a rather special 'something' lies beneath The Plateau south of the Kingdom. This area is constructed of a large underworld of interconnected cave systems, waterfalls, and... is that a lily pad?!
We have many areas we want to create, which is why we want to hit the Cardinal Province goals so badly - to include them all! Please let us know which ones are most interesting to you in the comments, or in the Discord.
Social Goal for LAN and ONLINE Cooperation
We're 80% of the way there now. If you haven't retweeted or shared our pinned/highlighted main posts on X (Twitter) and Facebook, please do!
This game is a challenging 2D action sidescroller with skilled one-hit-kill combat, meaningful choices, and a lore-rich story set in a dark fantasy Edo Japan. Hack and slash your way through the army of one-thousand and reclaim your honor.... Or die trying.
It's also their first Kickstarter campaign, so we're excited for them. Banko Toad Studio have been inspired by some classic chanbara films, like Seven Samurai (1954) and Yojimbo (1961). The game seems really cool, so check them out!
Stretch Goal Achieved: Infinity Bow, Kazere & Quiv
over 1 year ago
– Wed, Jul 10, 2024 at 09:22:28 PM
Xross doing the Dodge Shot, Quick Shot, and Power Shot
We're almost at 1000 backers. Monumental! We talk about the new weapon in the game, and the next stretch goal - including more artwork for Kazere, the next character.
We're also halfway through our campaign! Time to bring it home.
A New Weapon - The Infinity Bow
Another stretch goal down, which means we'll add this new weapon into the game:
The Infinity Bow
A variety of weapons
If the stretch goal image wasn't obvious enough, we have indeed unlocked the bow! Which means major things. We'll include a variety of abilities for every character to use and bow related puzzles to complete - strewn throughout dungeons and the land.
The bow is a magical artefact, capable of channelling elemental energies through the crystalline structure found in the centre of its construction. No individually nocking arrows anymore! It is a long-range, piercing weapon. We're super happy to see the support for this make it into the game. Weapons are hard to make, as we need to go through and make animations for every character doing every move, ability, so on.
Our bow master will enhance characters bow-related abilities and teach us how it's done. He can even change the trajectory of arrows mid-flight. Speaking of...
Kazere and Quiv
Kazere, Infinity Knight and trusted confidante of The Seer King, journeys alongside his faithful owl companion, Quiv. Together they form an inseparable duo. Kazere channels elemental energy through the catalyst on his bow to rain down magical arrows on his enemies.
Kazere is the next stretch goal, and will unlock as a playable character to use in the game.
Conceptual Artwork for Kazere and Quiv
Quiv wears similar pauldron style armour to Kazere, and they have matching facial hair. The two are inseparable.
Online Goal
We're officially halfway through our campaign, so we're looking on track to reaching our LAN and ONLINE goal. Let's keep it up!
Live today, this Kickstarter is so awesome. If you like the GBA era of JRPGs, this will definitely be up your alley.
Train your octopus heroes to unlock magic powers
Tako no Himitsu is an action RPG made as a tribute to the Game Boy Advance era of gaming. Embark on a quest to save a world consumed by the shadows of its past. Play as six different characters and uncover their stories and traumas as you explore a troubled land beset by shadow monsters. Befriend and train magical octopuses to aid you in real time combat and puzzles, and strategise to gain the advantage against your enemies!
We wanted to shout out Pipsqueak again. With just under 3 days remaining, Daniel is bringing in the close on his Kickstarter. If you like Metroidvanias, definitely check this out!
Pipsqueak! is a Metroidvania starring Tofu, a small mouse exploring a strange and hostile world.
Uncover the truth of this expansive labyrinth through exploration, discovery, combat, and platforming challenges. Bring hope to this dying land and its tiny inhabitants in this grand adventure of mouse-sized proportions!
Famitsu and the Battle Song, Building the Kingdom, and Weapon Stretch Goals
over 1 year ago
– Mon, Jul 08, 2024 at 08:26:35 PM
Hey, everyone :) As always, a packed update.
We talk about Famitsu, and the new battle song Hiroki Kikuta has made for the game. We also chat about the city-building part of the Kingdom and our variation of Dark Cloud's 'Georama', as well as a nice surprise for the Captain+ tier rewards, finishing with some information about our weapon stretch goals, social goal, Edenfall, and Tako no Himitsu.
Famitsu and our Battle Song
We're very excited to bring this game to Japanese audiences! The new song is so good.
We were featured on Famitsu today, which is fantastic! They've released a preview of Hiroki Kikuta's newest song for Infinity Knights: Xross entitled 'The Raid of Devastators'. This track plays during battles within the game. Take a listen!
The Kingdom is your base, and you'll work towards improving it to cater to your needs AND the needs of the citizens.
How do you actually upgrade the Kingdom?
Gathering materials in the overworld through activities like mining, woodcutting, fishing, stealing from enemies, etc., yields valuable materials that the party can use to bolster The Kingdom. You might liken this to Dark Cloud, Stardew Valley, or even Island Sanctuary.
Woodcutting minigame (feat. Fate)
Let's use woodcutting as an example. Your goal is to cover as much of the board as you can, to increase the quality of the material you receive. Blue nodes grant additional currency that can be used for more materials.
You can use materials gathered to:
Create structures for NPCs,
Gardens for herbs and plants,
Water systems for fish and the city,
Generate resources for use in the field,
And most importantly, satisfying the wishes of the Kingdom's inhabitants.
Xross placing a Statue
There are many things in the game that you'll be able to construct and place. Some have functional use, and others... well, read on!
The Museum
The exhibits in the Museum will stand the test of time, but we mentioned there were TWO places where backers personalised items would appear. The first is in the Museum itself. This museum holds artefacts from all across time and will be our massive testament to all those who helped support us. It'll be an amazing area of the game, and something that we're looking forward to building the most.
Who noticed the GIF above is of a statue? You'll get to unlock your personalised item and use it in your Kingdom Sector. That's right! Not only will we pay honour and tribute to those that have helped us achieve our dreams, but you'll also be able to have your monument/item as the focal point of your Kingdom Sector.
Pretty neat, right?
Weapons
Let's talk about weapons and how they work, since they feature as prominent stretch goals. Remember this GIF?
Xross is wielding a variety of weapons: a Sword; Cards; a Fishing Rod; a Spear.
Each weapon has an attack range and damage type - slashing, piercing, etc.
Damage types exploit the vulnerabilities of your opponents, similar to how Octopath Traveller's combat system works. Using the correct damage type against an enemy will have a variety of effects, but most importantly, damage types (both weapon and elemental) are the key to battles.
More Weapons = More Gameplay Variety
When we add weapons, there are more choices for exploiting enemy weaknesses. Velia's Scythe makes it into the game? You'll be able to use the scythe to slash instead of Xross's Katana, or you can take both weapons and double down on the slash mayhem!
Weapons are not just for equipping. They actually change the way the game will operate. With each weapon, the game will have new ways for us to integrate mechanics into questing and puzzles, such as using a bow to light some braziers.
More Weapons = More Abilities
You can use abilities to instantly switch weapons, acting as a great opener in battles. With more weapons in the game, you can expect a wider variety of abilities to choose from in your adventures.
We've also revealed more bosses in the infographic :)
Social Goal
Remember to share our Twitter and Facebook posts for ONLINE and LAN!
As always, thank you immensely for reading. If there's anything you want to hear more about, don't hesitate to reach out and let us know either in the comments, through email, or our Discord. Please share our Kickstarter with your friends, family, and on socials!
Edenfall is almost funded, with just 3 days to go on their Kickstarter! It's an atmospheric action-adventure with a deep story. Help restore Eden as a human, raccoon, raven, and wolf.
Edenfall is set in the world of Eden, a realm high above the clouds and long forgotten by any human being. After a strange dream Venya - a young woman - wakes up in a beautiful, yet strange land just to find that she is completely alone. Soon she will meet Alkina - a spirit fox - who tells her about the great threat Eden is facing. Together they untangle the long-forgotten story behind these lands, find their inner peace and restore beauty and peace in Eden.
New add-ons (Mushrooms & Strategy Guide), Alessia (The People's Shield), Stretch Goals
over 1 year ago
– Thu, Jul 04, 2024 at 05:12:13 AM
Hey, everyone :) Another big update!
Rewards Update Mushroom Village (Special Village #1), Digital Strategy Guide
Digital Strategy Guide $15 AUD (~$10.00 USD) *
We will create a strategy guide for this game, just like the ones we had in the days of old. We like the idea of a guide for many reasons.
It's offline. Great for immersion.
It'll be filled with commentary about Infinity Knights: Xross (written by us). This includes lore that will enhance the gaming experience for those that like a lot of extra information!
Infinity Knights: Xross has an enormous amount of variability in gameplay, and although we'll curate the experience through play testing and community feedback, it can be nice to have a recommended route and play-guide.
Mushroom Village (Special Village #1) $50 AUD (~$33.50 USD) * Limited to 50
Whether it's great music, the fantastical setting, or the critters that occupy it, every great RPG has that odd village or two that everyone loves.
The Southern Cardinal Province is home to the Mushrooms. They're great, and they've been practicing speaking the language native to the citizens of the Kingdom, even going so far as to come up with new names. We figured we'd get the community to contribute with the most hilarious names they can. Here is an example:
Good job, Porto!
We've limited this reward to 50 slots. By backing this add-on, you will get to contribute to the pool of names that mushrooms use to identify themselves. We'll open up opportunities for the next special village if/when we reach our next Cardinal Province Stretch Goal.
Stretch Goal Graphic Update + Cardinal Province explanation
With Alessia unlocked and the inseparable duo on the horizon, we should take a moment to talk about our stretch goals.
First Major Stretch Goal (Cardinal Province #2) for Infinity Knights: Xross
We've expanded the list to show our goals leading up to Cardinal Province #2.
The funding we receive will truly dictate the SIZE of the game. The second Cardinal Province will DOUBLE the size of the game. We think we can hit this goal.
Cardinal Provinces are free for all backers receiving a copy of the game. Cardinal Provinces provide more story arcs, weapons, minigames, Kingdom materials, enemies, areas, quests. You name it.
We don't want to bloat the Stretch Goals with features that our game should just have. Period. This means things like Speedrun Mode, Randomiser Mode,Quality of Life, etc., will be included regardless.
Characters enable more styles of play and produce more content for players to enjoy.
Cardinal Province #2 is our next major goal!
We have some awesome areas planned for Cardinal Province #2 (and #3 and #4!). Look at these miniature biomes and let your mind wander.
While our game will still be an RPG at heart, we can make it truly colossal with enough support. We hope that clears things up. Feel free to ask any questions in the comments or get in touch with us for more information.
If anyone has any particular reward suggestions, please let us know via Discord/email! We're happy to try and accommodate requests.
Alessia, The People's Shield + Kazere (and Quiv)!
Ah, characters. They are extremely important in telling a story. While our RPG will be every bit of fun, the characters are so important in our goal to make an epic game. Every character has a specific and important function in the overall narrative.
We continue this journey, with Alessia.
Alessia joins the party!
Alessia is quite young for an Infinity Knight, and one of the most recent recruits, along with Fate and Xross. Alessia's story is about the weight of responsibility, and what it means to protect another. This is a theme she explores with Xross, and together they will find their answers.
Alessia made appearances in the trailer as a guest, but she will now be included as a FULLY playable character that you can control and immerse yourself with.
Thank you everyone, for your support <3
Before we forget, Alessia comes with a new weapon! This means new special attacks, another way to deal typed damage, and, well... a new playstyle! We wanted to keep it a secret although we think Alessia's title gives it away (especially to those who knew it from the discord). Players will now be able to use a Shield.
Shields do a whole range of mechanics, and this is what we have planned. Shields act as both a melee and range weapon, they deal crush type damage, grant damage reduction abilities, and help charge elemental affinities.
A collection of some weapons
Now, let's talk about our next stretch goal (and character) to join the party line-up.
Kazere, Infinity Knight and trusted confidante of The Seer King, journeys alongside his faithful owl companion, Quiv. Together they form an inseparable duo. Kazere channels elemental energy through the catalyst on his bow to rain down magical arrows on his enemy.
Kazere and Quiv (Best friends)
Ka-pew!
Kazere is a veteran and serves as Xross's mentor on specific missions. Wonder what weapon we'll add before Kazere, hmm. Who knows.
Social goal
Super on track to unlocking ONLINE and LAN, and it'll be a hoot when we do.
Go! Quiv, Go!
Reflection
We know these updates keep getting bigger, but we have SO much to share with everyone and better to have it here to read, than to not have anything at all.
Thanks for staying tuned!
SoulQuest
We are huge Devil May Cry fans, and Tomas is making a hack-and-slash that looks absolutely phenomenal.
Doesn't this just look awesome?
Here's what Tomas has to say about his game:
Welcome to SoulQuest, a hack-and-slash tale of one woman's undying love and boundless grief. Carve through endless hordes of enemies and rip out their very souls. Battle the fates using a deep freeform combat system. Fight the Celtic gods - will you win and complete Alys’ quest?
